As a musician specializing in interactive music workshops for those suffering with dementia and Alzheimer’s, Shannon and musical partner Charles Lewis have developed the Musical Memory Care Workshop (MMCW) that provides participants with consistency, love, empathy, respect, and sincerity through music – the ingredients paramount for positive outcomes.
By interactively incorporating music, movement, words, numbers, sound, rhythm and color, MMCW seeks to engage and stimulate participation within each memory care participant with the goal of facilitating a shared sense of community and teamwork, and evoking the endless possibilities of emotional, mental, and verbal responses.
Those taking part in these workshops are able to rediscover their individual vitality and youth that lies within, positively re-evaluate their relationship to the world in which they are an important part, and sense that the world still understands that they are more than just alive inside.

“The joy that Shannon and Charles brought to the lives of our residents was amazing. Music brings smile and joy to our hearts, and our residents couldn’t stop smiling with Shannon and Charles. Besides being absolutely fabulous at what they do, they brought such a feeling of love to our home. We were so blessed to have them interact with our residents and I am in awe with what they accomplished. We had one particular resident who did not communicate too well, however Shannon and Charles were able to draw her in and she tapped her foot and sang along every song with them. Nobody else can compare to what Shannon and Charles can do with seniors!” – Wendy Laven, Owner, Our Parents Home
